Looking Back and Ahead

If it were still socially acceptable to say “Happy New Year,” we’d start with that, but since we are now all fairly fully entrenched in this new year and all that it brings, we are moving on!

But before we do, we wanted to take a moment to look back on 2023. It was an incredible year of growth and opportunity for us in the workroom. This success includes countless projects with long-time partners like Katie Rosenfeld, Leslie Fine, Rachel Reider, Erin Gates, and so many more, bringing us to every stretch of New England and locations in NY, FL, and CA! We can’t say enough how in awe we are of the incredibly talented designers, architects, builders, and artisans we are privileged to work with daily.  We are overcome with joy whenever we see a project collaboration published in the pages of the industry's top magazines, including Veranda, New England Home, Modern Luxury Interiors Boston, and Boston Home!

We’ve enjoyed celebrating this talent at so many exciting events, including New England Home’s 5 Under 40 (shout out to our beloved partner and 2023 winner, Laura Keeler Pierce!) and The New England Design Hall of Fame honoring the best in the industry! Thank you to Kathryn Hufton Design for collaborating with us on our “Support Thy Neighbor” themed table at Modern Luxury Interiors Boston’s To Live & Dine event to support the Greater Boston Food Bank. And no year would be complete without attending the Luxury Home Design Summit in Chatham, MA — the place for meeting and mingling with the best in the interior design world. We were also humbled to get some recognition, winning the Boston Home’s Best of Boston Home ® 2024 - Best Custom Drapery award (our second win in the category!) and the 2023 Modern Luxury Interiors Boston Best of Luxury Design award. Congratulations to all the other winners of both awards.

And finally, in 2023, Manny got the chance to put on his “professor” hat as he taught a group of aspiring designers at Endicott College about all things workroom. Paying it forward to the next generation is something we take very seriously, and so we were thrilled to have Endicott College student Kirsten join us as our intern last summer. We are certain Kirsten will do amazing things!

2024 is already amping up to be an epic year.

The biggest, most exciting news for 2024 is our new workroom space! In the coming months, we will be heading to a beautiful building in Sudbury, and we cannot wait for you all to see it. The new facility will significantly increase our capacity, allowing us to serve you better as your business grows. We will also use the space to offer you more time with us IRL! Through one-on-one meetings, special events, and programs, you’ll have the opportunity to get to know us and our team with the goal of giving back and providing more pertinent thought leadership within the industry and mentorship to the future generation of designers.

From a team perspective, we sadly said goodbye to Lori Joyal, who has retired. We’ll miss you, Lori. We are excited to welcome two new project managers, Kara and Elizabeth, who have joined our team to help manage all design projects. We are thrilled to have them on board! Finally, we have a new President, Tim Kaelin. Tim has been instrumental in working behind the scenes here in the workroom to facilitate these exciting changes. Throughout the years, Tim has significantly helped us shape who we are today. Next time you are in the workroom, be sure to say hello!

And finally, in the year ahead, we’ll be sharing something cool we’ve been cooking up that will allow us to offer our expertise and craftsmanship directly to consumers. We can’t share much more on that now, but as soon as we can, you’ll be the first to know.

And that’s a wrap on our Looking Back and Ahead update.

See you out there!
