As the day has finally arrived to launch our new website, we wonder where the year has gone. Then we remember exactly where it has gone and we find ourselves taking a few deep breaths and feeling blessed and grateful first and foremost for our health and that of our families. When we first began designing our new site in early January, we never could have imagined the way the world would change in such a short amount of time. Social distancing. One-way aisles in grocery stores (without a roll of toilet paper to be found). Masks. Zoom. And Zoom fatigue.
But we made it through, and thanks to all of you and your tremendous support and confidence in us, our workroom family has actually grown. Over the summer we welcomed a new installer; Jeff is quickly learning the ropes and if you haven't met him yet no doubt you will soon, as he spends more time out in the field. And earlier this month we welcomed Sara, our new administrative assistant; hers will be the voice you hear when you call us so please introduce yourself!
As we spend more time in our homes, we realize how important it is to make our most personal spaces our sanctuaries - places where we feel inspired, joyful, comforted, safe. We are excited about the challenges our profession faces as we consider new design concepts: Home classrooms. Zoom-ready spaces. Workout rooms. Outdoor living areas - particularly tricky here in the Northeast. Suddenly the trends from the turn of the 20th century, during the Spanish Flu pandemic, are back in play: wide open spaces to allow for ventilation and distancing; mudrooms as "drop zones" for clothes, shoes, and packages before heading indoors; minimalist decorating with special attention to light, fresh air, and nature.
We at Makkas Drapery Workroom remain committed to being The Workroom to Work With as together we take what 2020 has taught us and learn new ways to incorporate those lessons into better supporting your business.
So welcome to our new website - take a look around and tell us what you think!
And be sure you’re following us over on Instagram where, over the coming weeks, we will be showing you more of who we are and what we do. We can't wait to see you there!
